2024 elections

The next municipal election will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024

Nomination Period: mid-September, 2024 until October 9, 2024 at 4:00pm. 
Advance Poll: November 6, 2024 from 8:00am to 4:00pm at the Town office

Terms and Election Dates

 All members of Council are elected to office for a term of four years. Mayors and council members are elected at large.   Please contact the Town Office to discuss any questions regarding either running for Council, or Election Procedures.
The next municipal election will be held on November 13, 2024 for the following seats:
  • Mayor - 1 seat
  • Council members - 4 seats

A by-election may be called if a council or mayor position becomes vacant before the next election date or if not enough nominations are received to fill the seats.  

Voting

To be eligible to vote, you must:
  1. be at least 18 years old;
  2. be a Canadian citizen; 
  3. must have resided in Saskatchewan for the past 6 months; 
  4. AND either:
  • reside in the Town of Arborfield for the past 3 months OR
  • own property in the Town of Arborfield for the past 3 months.  

Nominations

You are eligible for nomination as a candidate for municipal office if you:
  1. are at least 18 years old on Election Day;
  2. are a Canadian citizen;
  3. have resided in Saskatchewan for the past 6 months; 
  4. are not disqualified pursuant to any Act;
  5. AND have resided in the Town of Arborfield for the past 3 months.
Nomination papers need to be signed by five eligible voters. 

Identification required to vote on Election Day

To receive a ballot at the polling place, you will be required to bring:
1. ONE piece of government issued photo ID such as a driver's license or a passport
​                 OR
2.  TWO pieces such as the following, one of which must contain your address:
  • Saskatchewan Health services card
  • Birth certificate
  • Social Insurance number card
  • Credit card
  • Bank Debit card
  • Vehicle registration
  • Credit card statement
  • Statement of government benefits
  • Insurance policy
  • Tax notice
  • Utility billing notice
